State Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) have hunting periods (or controlled hunts) that are generally much shorter than the general statewide hunting season. WMAs may restrict, or prevent, use of their designated trails and roads for equestrians and mountain bikers during these controlled hunt periods. Refer to the official Georgia 2007 – 2008 Hunting Seasons & Regulations or go to www.georgiawildlife.com for other WMA restrictions, information on other WMAs not listed below, or for directions to a WMA. Even when there are no trail access time restrictions, it is courteous and safer to avoid riding before 10:00 a.m. during any hunting season.

Archery: Statewide Sep 8 – Oct 12; Archery Only Counties Sep 8-Jan 31
Primitive Weapons: Oct 13 – Oct 19
Firearms (Northern Zone) Oct 20 – Jan 1 (there are further restrictions in several counties)
Turkey Season statewide is Mar 22 – May 15, 2008
